    // What it is

    Inside Alpha PQC

    Alpha PQC is pavement quality concrete — a low-slump, high-flexural-strength mix designed for rigid pavements that carry wheel loads directly rather than transferring them through a structural frame. The governing property is flexural strength (modulus of rupture), tested on 150×150×700 mm beams, not compressive cube strength alone.

    Mix design follows IRC:44 with a target 28-day flexural strength of 4.5 N/mm² for highway and heavy industrial work, and characteristic compressive strength typically in the M30-M45 range. Aggregate gradation, cement content and water-cement ratio are set for low workability, high abrasion resistance and low drying shrinkage.

    Supply is sequenced to the paving method. Slipform and fixed-form paving needs consistent low slump load after load, delivered at a rate that keeps the paving train moving without cold joints. Dispatch is planned around paving output in m³ per hour, not per truck.

    // Why Alpha PQC

    Built for rigid pavements

    Flexural strength designed

    Target 4.5 N/mm² modulus of rupture at 28 days per IRC:44, verified on beam specimens alongside routine cube testing.

    Abrasion and fatigue resistant

    Hard, well-graded crushed aggregate and low W/C ratio for surfaces under repeated heavy-axle loading.

    Paving-rate dispatch

    Loads sequenced to the paver's output so the train never starves and no cold joints form mid-panel.

    Low-slump consistency

    Slump held tight load to load — slipform paving fails on variation, not on average.

    Shrinkage controlled

    Gradation and cement content optimised for low drying shrinkage, reducing mid-panel cracking between joints.

    Joint and dowel support

    Detailing guidance for contraction, expansion and construction joints, dowel bars and tie bars per IRC:15.

    // FAQ

    About Alpha PQC

    A rigid pavement acts as a slab on grade in bending, so the failure mode is flexural. IRC:44 designs pavement thickness against the 28-day modulus of rupture, typically 4.5 N/mm². Cubes are still tested for process control.
