    Specific Gravity

    // Definition

    The ratio of the density of an aggregate to the density of water. Used in mix design to convert weights to volumes.

    Typical values: coarse aggregate 2.6-2.9, fine aggregate 2.5-2.7. Aggregates with very low SG may indicate porosity or weak particles.
