60-Floor Residential Tower, Whitefield
Project overview
A 60-floor residential tower in Whitefield required structural concrete pumped to 180m height across 18 months. Alpha supplied 12,400 m³ across M50, M40, and M30 grades, maintaining 100% cube pass rate from pile cap to terrace. Mix designs were tuned for 90-minute slump retention and high pumpability. The project was delivered on schedule despite Bangalore summer heat in months 8-13.
Outer ORR corridor; mixed-use precinct with constrained access; pumping windows often shared with adjacent towers.
The challenge
Tall pumping plus summer scheduling at scale.
- ›Vertical pumping to 180m without segregation
- ›90-minute slump retention required for site logistics
- ›Summer ambient 35-40°C during shear-wall floors
- ›Cube test acceptance under IS 456 clause 16 across 1,200+ samples
The solution
Custom Alpha High-Rise mix with PCE-based slump retainer and chilled water in summer months.
- ›Cement: OPC 53 with 25% GGBS for heat control
- ›PCE superplasticizer with retention component
- ›Chilled water (4-6°C) for April-October pours
- ›Dedicated boom pump dispatch with 60-min batch-to-place SLA
Execution detail
Continuous schedule with cube QC at every shift.
- ›Pour cadence: 2 shear-wall floors/week
- ›Cube samples: 4 per 50 m³, dual-lab verification
- ›Mean 28-day strength M50: 58.2 MPa
- ›Slump arrival vs design: ±15mm 96% of trips
The result
Topped out on schedule, zero structural rework, 100% cube acceptance.
"Alpha became an extension of our QC team. The slump retention was the difference at floor 40+."
